Primary Health Care: Health Promotion / LiveWell with Chronic Pain

Service Description

Provides interactive workshops to help individuals with chronic pain take charge of their life and find practical ways to manage chronic pain.

  • Groups of 10-16 people meet for two and a half hours a week for six weeks.
  • For adults of any age who have chronic pain, including (but not limited to):
    • Musculoskeletal pain
    • Fibromyalgia
    • Whiplash injury
    • Chronic pelvic pain
    • Post-surgical pain lasting longer than 6 months
    • Neuropathic pain
    • Neuralgias
    • Post stroke or central pain
    • Persistent headache
    • Crohn’s disease
    • Irritable bowel syndrome
    • severe muscular pain due to conditions such as multiple sclerosis.

Participants:

  • Receive information on how to manage symptoms and medication, work with your healthcare providers, set weekly goals, problem-solve effectively, improve communication, cope with stress, handle difficult emotions, eat well, and exercise safely.
  • Set their own goals and make a step-by-step plan to improve their health and quality of life.
  • Receive a Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions textbook and a Chronic Pain Self-Management workshop book.

Workshops are alsp available in rural locations – contact for details.

Eligibility

Individuals and/or their caregivers who have chronic pain.
