Service Description

Offers prenatal classes, postnatal follow-up and infant assessments, and breastfeeding and parenting support. 

Group Prenatal Classes

  • Provides information and support on understanding and preparing for birth, infant care, and breastfeeding.

Online Childbirth Class

  • For expectant parents who can’t attend on-site childbirth classes due to work schedules, distance to travel to class, time constraints or medical conditions.

1:1 Support

  • For expectant parents that might benefit from more intensive support. Participants meet with a Public Health Nurse to determine eligibility. Provides prenatal information and connection to community groups and agencies that can be an additional resource to the parents.

Postnatal Services 

  • Offers a follow-up home visit to parents a few days after they arrive home from the hospital with their newborn. Assesses how mother’s recovery is going, how baby is feeding and provides information about infant care, safety, immunizations and community programs for new parents.

Breastfeeding Support Information

  • Provides information and support to pregnant women about breastfeeding. Free online course to get ready to breastfeed is also available.

Application Process

Call to register. Register early, ideally before your 7th month of pregnancy.

The fee may be waived for group classes for those with financial need.
