Offers a variety of Intercultural Programs and Services, including:

Culture Sync:

  • Helps clients to become active contributors in the broader community by enhancing their sense of belonging and supporting businesses in creating diverse and inclusive workplaces for newcomers and Indigenous peoples.
  • Includes:
    • Tea Time with SIA
      • Creates a safe and welcoming platform for respectful discussions and presentations on culture and history through various intercultural voices, perspectives, world views, and ways of knowing.
      • Informs, educates, and presents different ways of knowing that bring about acceptance and understandings of different cultural perspectives.
    • SK CultureXchange
      • A cultural partnership between newcomers and established residents of Saskatchewan.
      • Provides supportive friendships beneficial to all.
    • Global Story Box
      • A family-oriented resource for adults and children. It highlights the diverse culture of Saskatoon by sharing stories, activities, and items that reflect our local and global cultures.
      • The items in the Global Story Box tell a story that each student can explore to learn about another culture at their own pace.
      • Also designed as a complementary tool for instructors to use in their classrooms to enhance students’ learning experience.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Anti-Opressive Education:

  • A series of diversity, equity, and inclusion presentations that educate clients:
    • On the varied identities and differences that exist here in our community, inclusive of the workplace
    • To explore what inclusion looks and feels like from an individual and collective perspective
    • Identify inequities that exist and maintain the social division into upper, middle, and lower class (between races and within races) through our social systems
    • Find creative and workable solutions to eliminate inequities to create an inclusive and productive society.

Corporate Culture Club:

  • Provides local employers and businesses with tools to develop inclusive business practices for newcomers in the community.

Intercultural Harmony Events:

  • Provide opportunities for positive intercultural exchanges between newcomers and the Indigenous community in Saskatoon.

Indigenous Education:

  • Presentations review the origins of Canada, including information on Canada’s diverse First Nations, Inuit and Mètis peoples and cultures, while clarifying histories surrounding the colonization of North America.

Intercultural Education and Anti-Racism Services:

  • Promotes an authentic, deep engagement between cultures (worldviews, perspectives, histories) to value and make visible contributions of all cultures into what we consider Canadian.

Intercultural Arts Network:

  • An extensive network of intercultural artists and performance groups that reflect their unique and distinctive cultural heritage and traditions.
  • Promotes and engages artists in traditional and contemporary styles through a wide range of multidisciplinary art forms.
  • Presentations are shared through workshops and public performances for SIA’s intercultural programs, community celebrations, special events, and corporate engagements coordinated by SIA.

Saskatoon Multilingual Schools:

  •  Language classes are available for anyone who is interested in learning a new or heritage language. Evening and weekend classes are held for children and adults in 26 different languages by 33 language schools.
