Service Description

A free employment program designed to provide training, mentoring, and career development to newcomers looking to establish a career in Canada.

Includes three main sections:

  • Eight-week part-time online training session
    • Covers essential employability skills, including personal marketing skills such as résumé and cover letter writing, job search techniques and accessing the hidden job market, interview skills, business etiquette, networking, and presentations from employer partners and industry experts.
    • Features subjects on workers’ rights in Canada, cultural literacy, history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada, workplace literacy, anti-racism and the importance of essential skills.
  • Eight to 12-week mentoring session
    • Clients are paired with a suitable mentor within their professional field to enhance community connections, receive advice in their job search, and build a professional network within their respective locations. 
  • Continuous access to employment counsellors who provide relevant and tailored support based on the clients’ employment needs and help prepare them to enter the labor market.

Eligibility

In order to apply, applicants must: - Be 18 years of age or older; - Live in Saskatchewan; - Be a Permanent Resident of Canada or a Protected Person and Convention Refugee, who has been selected by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), or living in Saskatchewan through the CUAET (Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel); - Be legally able to work in Canada; - Be unemployed or underemployed (currently working in an area that is unrelated to your prior education and training); - Have completed either a degree/diploma/certificate and have received some or all their education and/or work experience from outside of Canada.
