Service Description

The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) retirement pension is a monthly, taxable benefit that replaces part of a your income when you retire. If you qualify, you’ll receive the CPP retirement pension for the rest of your life. 

Individuals can receive full CPP retirement pension at age 65, or receive it as early as age 60 with a reduction, or as late as age 70 with an increase in payment. Visit the website for more information.

Eligibility

Older adults 60 years of age or older, and the person has worked and has made at least one valid contribution to the Canada Pension Plan.

Application Process

CPP payments are not automatic. You must apply. You should apply in advance of when you want your pension to start.

Use the online Canada Pension Plan Retirement Pension application or print and complete an application form and return it to your nearest Service Canada Centre. Also, call one of the Service Delivery Agents and they will send you an application kit.
