Service Description

Provides Fishing Benefits to qualifying, self-employed fishers who are actively seeking work.


A fisher is a self-employed person engaged in fishing. A fisher may be eligible to receive EI fishing benefits if they are temporarily not earning money from fishing. Also depends on how much they earned from self-employment in fishing during qualifying period, and what they did during the labour force attachment period.

Application Process

Should apply no later than four weeks after last day of work, the end date of the fishing trip, or the date sold of the catch to a buyer.
