Service Description
A monthly supplement provided to older adults who have little or no income other than the federal old age security pension and guaranteed income supplement
Eligibility
SIP benefits are received if below conditions are met:
- 65 years of age or older
- permanent resident of Saskatchewan
- receives full or partial OAS pension and GIS
- have annual income below a specified level
Eligibility is reassessed each year in July
Application Process
Eligibility and benefit amounts are automatically determined by completing the income tax return and an application for OAS/GIS through Service Canada

Documents Required
To apply you need:
- Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) entitlement letter
- your spouse's or common-law partner's SIN and GIS entitlement letter (if applicable)
- signed application form
- direct deposit form
- confirmation of admission form (If you are applying for a benefit while living in a personal care home)
- copy of your most recent tax return and a bank statement showing the most recent OAS/GIS deposit can sometimes be used in place of a GIS Entitlement letter
