Service Description
Provides American Sign Language (ASL) / English interpreting services in a variety of settings to facilitate deaf/non-deaf interaction. Settings may include but are not limited to:
- Court
- Counselling
- Doctor’s appointments
- Job interviews
- Staff meetings
- Lawyers appointments
- Youth groups
- Weddings and funerals.
Emergency interpreting services are available after hours for medical and police emergencies only.
Eligibility
Deaf and hard-of-hearing persons.
Application Process
Two weeks notice is ideal if you require an interpreter on a specific date and time, however they will do their best to accommodate with less notice.
Interpreting assignments longer than 1.5 hours will be assessed to determine how many interpreters will be required in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards.
To book interpreting services please provide the following:
- date
- time and duration
- location address
- nature of the assignment
- full name(s) and contact information for confirmation
- full billing address, if applicable
Fees
Rates are $60.00 per hour for interpreters (8:00 am - 4:00 pm) with a 1.5 hour minimum. After regular business hours and holidays are $70.00 per hour with a 2 hour minimum.
Mileage is $0.42 per kilometer and travel time is compensated the same as our hourly rates.
