Service Description
An adult crisis shelter for women, and a recovery centre for those struggling with mental illness or addictions. Offers a:
- Women in Crisis Program – Provides housing for up to twelve women in a shared accommodation. Offers programming to address issues like trauma, addictions, historic injustices and life skills. Professional counselling and 24 hour support.
- Pre-Treatment and Post-Treatment Program – Provides space for eight individuals who are seeking a safe place to live while waiting to get into an in-patient treatment facility or for individuals who need a safe place to enhance their recovery.
- Intensive Program – Provides housing and 24 hour support for up to six individuals living with mental health disorders. Goal is to transition to less-intensive services that exist in the community.
Eligibility
Women in Crisis Program Self Referral, Referral Pre-Treatment and Post-Treatment Program Must be eighteen years of age, able to walk, free of alcohol and drugs for a period of no less than seven days prior to their interview, no prescribed medications, are committed to follow all program residential guidelines, no pending court date, and no psychological barriers that would hinder their ability to comprehend. Referrals for the Pre-Treatment and Post Treatment Program may come from detoxification centres, health professionals, a family member, family assistance programs, employers, or the individuals themselves.
