KidsFirst Battlefords

A volunteer program that provides support and assistance to prenatal women and young families to help them become the best they can be and have the healthiest children possible. The program is for families with children aged prenatal to three years. Programming enhances parent knowledge, builds on family strengths, and provides support, including:

• Basic Needs Support: helps families resolve or improve issues around housing, budgeting, and accessing services through completion of forms or advocacy
• Nutrition – Food Vouchers: provides weekly food vouchers to prenatal and postnatal women up to twelve months for breastfeeding mothers
• Circle of Learning: provides parents with opportunities to learn skills to develop healthy parent-child relationships in an accessible, culturally diverse learning environment; for children birth to 18 months of age and their parents; runs Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon throughout the school year
• Toddler Activity Group: promotes child-parent interaction through activity with a literacy component; for children ages 18 months – three years and their parents; runs Wednesday afternoons.
