Service Description
Provides academic support and referrals for Métis, First Nations, and Inuit students.
- Health and Wellness – offers activities such as paint nights, sports teams, wellness presentations, therapy dogs, and fitness programs. For more information, please contact Lori Delorme, Acting Director of the Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre.
- Fitness 4U – allows Indigenous students to work with personal trainers and nutritionist to create and maintain a healthier lifestyle. Offered in partnership with USask Rec.
- Community Builder: Soup and Bannock – in partnership with other university programs or student services, offers soup and bannock as a way of honouring Indigenous Peoples’ cultures. Every Wednesday during the fall and winter terms at 12:00 pm (noon). Everyone is welcome.
- Building Bridges – offers Indigenous and non-Indigenous (domestic and international) students a safe space to learn about culture and identity, dispel myths, ask questions, promote commonalities and respectfully understand differences. Offered in partnership with the International Student and Study Abroad Centre (ISSAC). For information on current events, please the website or the Building Bridges Facebook page.
Eligibility
Health and Wellness and Fitness 4U - University of Saskatchewan Métis, First Nations and Inuit students. Community Builder: Soup and Bannock and Building Bridges - University of Saskatchewan Indigenous and non-Indigenous (domestic and international) students.
