Service Description
A free program that helps Immigrant Women learn sewing skills for their personal and professional empowerment.
Helps participants:
- learn basic sewing skills
- learn about culture by interacting with youth
- improve English conversation skills
- make new friends
- gain valuable skills that can be used in future for employment
- learn about Aboriginal Beading.
Participants will learn:
- about electric sewing machines and its various parts
- basic embroidery stitches
- to cut and sew a top, a pair of slacks, and a dress
- to cut and sew a pillowcase
- to cut and sew a Christmas Stocking
- to cut, sew, and stuff a pillow and apply stitchery or bead work.
Eligibility
Immigrant women.
