Service Description

A free program that helps Immigrant Women learn sewing skills for their personal and professional empowerment.

Helps participants:

  • learn basic sewing skills
  • learn about culture by interacting with youth
  • improve English conversation skills
  • make new friends
  • gain valuable skills that can be used in future for employment
  • learn about Aboriginal Beading.

Participants will learn:

  • about electric sewing machines and its various parts
  • basic embroidery stitches
  • to cut and sew a top, a pair of slacks, and a dress
  • to cut and sew a pillowcase
  • to cut and sew a Christmas Stocking
  • to cut, sew, and stuff a pillow and apply stitchery or bead work.

Eligibility

Immigrant women.
