Service Description

Prevents injury and illness by reducing physical, chemical, and biological hazards. Public Health Inspectors assess, manage, and communicate health risks to the public. Provides education, inspections, investigations, and enforcement of The Public Health Act, 1994.

Areas of inspection include:

  • Safe food
  • Plumbing systems
  • Onsite sewage systems
  • Radon
  • Private water
  • Public water
  • Swimming pools and recreational water
  • Public accommodation and housing
  • Communicable disease and animal bites investigations
  • Safe personal services (e.g. tattooing and aesthetic services)
  • Tobacco control.
