Service Description

A tax-free benefit for families who care for a child under age 18 with a severe and prolonged impairment in mental or physical functions.

The Child Disability Benefit (CDB) is calculated according to base income, which is determined by the number of children for whom the Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) is received.

The Child Disability Benefit is paid as a monthly supplement to the Canada Child Tax Benefit, which is usually issued on the 20th of each month, and one week earlier in December.

Eligibility

Recipients must be the primary caregivers of a child under age 18 with a severe and prolonged impairment in mental or physical functions. Other criteria may apply.
