Victims: Impact Statement and Restitution

Service Description

Offers victims of crime the opportunity to tell the court how a crime has affected them emotionally, physically and financially. They can complete a Victim Impact Statement and/or Statement of Restitution and request restitution for actual loss or damage resulting from a crime. Individuals may submit one statement or both. Help is available for individuals to complete their statement(s).

Victims of a crime.

Application Process

For help in completing the Victim Impact Statement (VIS) and/or Statement of Restitution (SOR), contact the Police-Based Victim Services Program nearest you or your local police service or RCMP detachment.

NOTE: The completed Victim Impact Statement (VIS) and/or Statement on Restitution (SOR) must be received before the offender is sentenced so they can be considered by the judge.
