Service Description

With the objective of helping clients enter the workforce and find meaningful employment, the Labour Force Development Program:

  • Helps clients explore their career options and assists them in developing action plans to reach career goals,
  • Promotes and supports the development of a client’s knowledge, skills, and abilities needed in their career,
  • Offers a variety of services ranging from helping with job searches to specific career training.

More specific services include:

  • Client Needs Assessment – initial meeting to determine training/employment needs,
  • Employment Services – assisting in attaining employment and acquiring start up essentials, 
  • Preparation Programs – increasing client basic education levels, skills, and abilties,
  • Career Training – Assisting clients to obtain credentials for their career. 

Eligibility

Individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Resident of Touchwood area,
- 18 years or older,
- Registered Status Indian,
- Possess a Social Insurance Number,
- Unemployed or under-employed,
- Not currently be enrolled in a training/educational program,
- Go through the Labour Force Development Client Case Management Process.

New employment letter stating start day and job title is required for some funding requests.
