Group Homes with Intervention Services
Provided by: Canadian Deafblind Association - Saskatchewan Chapter Inc.
Service Description
Operates residential group homes with 24-hour support. Provides a safe and enriched environment that optimizes the individual’s independence and quality of life.
The day programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each individual. There are intervention supports that allow an individual who is deafblind to receive non-distorted information such that they can interact with his or her environment.
The focus of an intervenor is to “Do with, Not For” the individual. An intervenor mediates between the person who is deafblind and their environment to enable them to communicate effectively with, and receive non-distorted information from, the world around them. An intervenor acts as the eyes and ears of the person with deafblindness.
