Service Description
Provides services to people who need support from an Outreach Worker but who cannot currently access services in a traditional face-to-face way, including situations where:
- People who do not want to leave their items unattended (fear of having bike stolen, pet that can’t come in, etc.)
- People who, for safety reasons, have been banned from the library
- Facilities have been required to close but an Outreach Worker is still on duty
- Any other reason that people may be uncomfortable entering the library to access Outreach Services.
Services available through this window are provided by Outreach Workers and are exclusively on the urgent social needs of underserved people, including:
- Providing housing and emergency shelter resources
- Assistance with acquiring ID, important documentation, or applications
- Urgent job search or unemployment help
- Crisis support
- System navigation
- Other referrals to community support organizations.
Eligibility
Anyone in need of support services who cannot currently access services in a traditional face-to-face way.
Application Process
- The window is located on 4th Avenue, just south of 23rd Street.
- From City Hall, walk down 4th Avenue toward the Sturdy Stone parking lot and look for the window on your right just past the bike rack.
- It can be identified by the asphalt paved niche and discrete signage on the library window.
- A steel railing separating the sidewalk from the service window provides a barrier between patrons and the public, yet offers visibility for improved safety.
- Confidentiality and privacy is supported by a volume adjustable microphone between the Outreach Worker and the patron.
- To access service, patrons can ring the doorbell or phone an Outreach Worker at the numbers posted on the sign.
