Service Description

Provides child welfare services to the following communities: Beardy’s & Okemasis Cree Nation, Piapot Cree Nation, Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation, Wahpeton Dakota Nation and Wood Mountain Lakota Nation. They offer:

  • Prevention Services – Focuses on early intervention, promoting healthier communities and supporting parents and families, so that children can stay in homes that are healthy and safe. Offices are available in Fort Qu’Appelle, Beardy’s & Okemasis First Nation, and Wahpeton Dakota Nation. Check website for details.
  • Protection Services – If a child’s physical or mental health, or welfare is being impacted by abuse or neglect, Protection Services will take steps to protect the children from harm. Contact 9-1-1 or Qu’Appelle Beardy’s & Okemasis Child and Family Services at 1-888-677-8846. Check website for details.
  • Short-term Community Homes – Operates two short-term community homes intended for children who are in care off-reserve or in urban centres. Each home is staffed 24 hours a day by trained caregivers. One home is located in Fort Qu’Appelle and the other is in Prince Albert. Check website for details.
