Service Description
Supplies aids that can be purchased or borrowed, including:
- Those to assist with daily living (lymphedema sleeves, walkers, bedpans, commodes, hospital beds, crutches, scooters, canes, etc)
- Devices to improve the appearance or function of a body part altered or lost due to cancer (breast prosthesis, laryngectomy aids, orthotics, ostomy, artificial limbs)
Additional notes:
- Mobility aids, soft-shell hip protectors, and lymphedema sleeves can be requisitioned by Occupational and Physical Therapists by contacting the therapies departments or clinics in Arcola, Estevan, Kipling, Redvers, Fillmore/ Stoughton, Weyburn, found here
- Palliative equipment and supplies may be available through the Regional Home Care offices listed under home care services, found here.
- Equipment may be available for rent for short periods of time while clients wait for their own to arrive.
- Case managers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists are able to assist clients with the selection of appropriate aides to assist in daily living in the home.
- Palliative equipment (such as electric beds, special mattresses, lift chairs, oxygen concentrators) is also available on assessed need.
Application Process
Mobility Aids and lymphedema sleeves can be requisitioned by Occupational and Physical Therapists by contacting Therapies departments/clinics. Therapies departments/clinics. Palliative equipment and supplies may be available through the Regional Home Care Offices.
