Specialized mental health services within CF Health Services include:
- Psychosocial Program
- Available at all CAF medical clinics. Social workers, mental health nurses and addiction counsellors normally staff the program.
- Includes: brief intervention; crisis intervention; addictions consultations; information services; and pre/post deployment screenings.
- Mental Health Programs
- Available at the larger CAF bases. Psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, mental health nurses, addictions counsellors and Health Services Chaplains normally staff the program.
- A physician referral is required to access mental health programs.
- Includes a General Program and the Operational Trauma and Stress Support Program.
- Addictions Treatment Program
- Provides assessment and treatment for individuals experiencing dependence or problem usage with alcohol, drugs, or other compulsive behaviours.
- Outpatient or inpatient treatment available.
- Operational and Trauma Stress Support Centres
- Specialized programs that ensure very comprehensive and consistent assessment and treatment of patients with operational stress injuries.
