Service Description

Assists individuals with acquiring employability skills through a variety of workshops and individual services. Includes:

  • Job Search Program: Participants work with professional employment counsellors who provide assistance and advice on job searches, the application process, and how to secure a steady source of income.
  • Job Finding Club ‘Online’: Job seekers learn up-to-date job search strategies through facilitator/multi-media presentations and peer-to-peer learning. Assists and supports job seekers in the hidden job market. Helps to refine and target cover letters and resumes, generates leads and network connections, and develops interview skills.
  • Career Moves 55-64 Program: Assists older adults in a group settling. Helps individuals develop effective job search strategies, connect with employers and update computer skills.
  • Women Shifting Gears: Program designed to empower women and develop their skills to enter the transportation industry.
  • Trade Journey: 16-week program that offers the ability to experience trades, build confidence, and enhance the skills necessary to enter traditionally male-dominated fields.
  • Computer Classes: Instructor-led computer classes with a limit of five participants per class. Includes computer basics, internet and email, Word and Excel (introduction and intermediate) and PowerPoint and Publisher (introduction).
  • PowerUP Programs: Offers small business training and support for new and existing self-employed women. Includes one-on-one coaching, business skill development, business plan writing and networking opportunities.

Eligibility

Inidviduals 16 years of age or older.
