Service Description

Offers support to students with barriers are prepared for employment, further education, and community living when they leave school.

  • Transition Services – helps students with disabilities to prepare for graduating from high school. Promotes independence helping people with disabilities maximize their potential.
  • Transition Services for Newcomer Youth – provides support to newcomer students from grades 11 and 12 as they prepare to graduate out of high school. This is an independent program run through Southeast Advocates for Employment and in conjunction with SWIS (Settlement Workers in Schools).

The Transition Services Program can help with:

  • Individualized student-centered plan
  • Resume/cover letter writing
  • Interview techniques
  • Skills development
  • Post Secondary exploration and applications
  • Application to scholarships
  • Apprenticeships
  • Financial planning
  • Job search and more.

Eligibility

- High School students facing barriers who seek assistance transitioning from school to work or advancing their education. - Newcomer youth from grades 11 and 12.
