Child Care – Main Centre

A licensed child care facility that provides care and supervision for up to 62 children between the ages of six weeks and six years. Child Care Subsidy accepted. 

Parents pay a one-time $5 membership fee since the centre is a co-operative.

Philosophy

• To provide a safe, flexible, stimulating, and inclusive environment focused on the development of the whole child: social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and intellectual growth.
• To always communicate with parents in an honest, supportive, unbiased, and confidential manner.
• To providing childcare services to children from all cultural, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Programs and Activities

• Follow the Play and Exploration curriculum.
• Committed to creating learning environments that are places of wonder and excitement, reflecting the strengths and interests of the children.
• Operates an inclusive environment in which children are recognized as competent and capable learners.
• Children are challenged to grow to the best of their abilities. 
• Physical needs of children are met and family values are respected.
• Programs are adapted to the needs of children in their care.
• Curriculum focuses on the interests of the children.
• Most of the day is filled with child lead activities. 
• Educators provide different learning experiences and invitations that are based around interests the children are wanting to explore. 
• Daily schedule includes both indoor and outdoor play. 

Nutrition

• Believes nutrition is am important part of child development.
• Meals reflect the Canada Food Guide. 
• Menu includes different ethnicities.
• Provide one meal and two snacks per day.
• Families are required to provided substitutions for their children if they require a special diet.
