Service Description

Assists adults, 18 years and older, who have used violence in their intimate relationships, are concerned about their behaviour towards their partner and who are committed to changing their behaviours and beliefs, in developing nonviolent strategies to manage their personal, social and emotional experiences.  Programs are delivered in a group format. 

  • Education Group – a 2-week introductory eductaion group for men and women.  Must be completed in full prior to entering any of the other treatment groups.
  • Intimate Partner Violence Groups – a 22-week group offered to men who have been violent to their partners. Runs Monday – Friday, typically at 10:00 am, 1:00, 3:30, and 6:00 pm. A treatment registration is required and can be done by calling 306-655-8999.
  • Napewak E-Acimoyahk Group – a 22-week therapy group developed specifically for Indigenous men who have been violent to intimate partners. Facilitated in conjunction with Indian & Metis Friendship Centre.  Indigenous ceremonies and traditions are included as part of this group. Offered on Wednesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at City Hospital.
  • Women’s Alternatives to Violence Group – a 16-week group invites women to take a stand against their violence. Held Tuesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

Eligibility

Participants must be:
- Willing to take responsibility for their violence
- 18 years of age or older
- Enter the program voluntarily
- Agreeable to the limits of confidentiality
- Accept the boundaries of confidentiality which will be reviewed upon entering the program
- Participants cannot have any outstanding charges of assault against another person, his/her partner, the partner's family, or the children. (Outstanding charges must be dealt with before entering the program.)
- Participants must agree to partake in the program and cooperate with group guidelines (example: attendance, respectful behaviour, puntuality, confidentiality, partner contacts)
