Service Description

Provides specialized support to people who have decided to terminate their pregnancy.

  • Medical termination – in Saskatchewan, medical termination (also called pharmaceutical termination) is available up to 10 weeks of pregnancy through some sexual health clinics, family physicians and OBYGNs (obstetrician-gynecologist).
  • Surgical termination – In Saskatchewan, Surgical Termination (also called procedural termination) is available in Saskatoon and Regina:
    • Regina General Hospital: up to 18 weeks, 6 days – self-referral by contacting the Regina Women’s Health Centre (306-766-0586).
    • Saskatoon City Hospital: up to 12 weeks – self-referral by contacting the Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic (306-655-7637).

Usually self-referral.

Documents Required

Usually, a valid Saskatchewan Health Card.

Fees

Medical termination: no cost for clients with a valid Saskatchewan Health Card.
Surgical termination: no cost for clients with a valid Saskatchewan Health Card. However, travel expenses are not covered by the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

Individuals not covered by the Saskatchewan Health Authority or who need to travel to Regina or Saskatoon can contact the Saskatoon Sexual Health or the Saskatoon Abortion Support Network for guidance and assistance.
