Service Description
Offers Language Instruction for permanent residents, which can help newcomers develop their English language skills so that they can successfully integrate into Canadian society. Saskatchewan Polytechnic LINC offers CLB 5 to 8 classes only.
Regina:
- First, contact the Language Assessment and Referral Centre (LARC) to schedule a Language Benchmarks Placement Test (306-525-5272 or larcregina.iws@gmail.com).
- LARC will provide information on the various LINC classes available in Regina. When then the student decides on a class, they are given a referral card and certificate, which must be given (in person) to the organization offering that class. The Regina Campus drop-off location for the referral card and certificate is in office 415 (4500 Wascana Parkway).
Saskatoon:
- First, contact the Language Assessment and Referral Centre (LARC) to schedule a Language Benchmarks Placement Test (306-651-5272 or info.larcsaskatoon@iwssaskatoon.org).
- LARC will provide information on the various LINC classes available in Saskatoon. When then the student decides on a class, they are given a referral card and certificate, which must be given (in person) to the organization offering that class. The Saskatoon Campus drop off location for the referral card and certificate is 230-20th Street East.
Eligibility
Adults with permanent resident status in Canada and have completed a Canadian Language Benchmarks Placement Test (CLBPT). All LINC students must maintain an 80% attendance average to stay in this free program.
Application Process
1) contact the Language Assessment and Referral Centre (LARC) to register for a free Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Assessment (CLB-PA). Only students with English levels between CLB 5 and 8 can be referred to the Saskatchewan Polytechnic LINC classes.
