Service Description

Offers peer support programs for people who experience sight loss.

  • Seeing Things: Charles Bonnet Syndrome Group 
    • For those who are experiencing symptoms/have had a diagnosis of CBS. Participants meet monthly for this conversational support group.
    • Meets on the third Wednesday of the month, 1:00 – 2:00 pm EST.  Call in information will be given upon registration.
  • Parenting With Sight Loss Group
    • For blind/partially sighted parents. From infancy to adulthood – blind mothers and fathers can learn, explore, and share their triumphs, challenges, tips and stories among peers in a supportive environment.
    • Meets twice monthly on the second Wednesday of the month, 7:00 – 8:00 pm EST and the last Saturday of the month, 2:00 – 3:00 pm.  Call in information will be given upon registration.
  • Care Providers Virtual Cafe
    • Builds a community of support and facilitates an opportunity for connection among spouses, parents, children and other care providers for individuals with sight loss. Covers a different discussion topic each month based on priorities identified by the group. 
    • Meets on the second Wednesday of every month, 7:00 – 8:00 pm CST.  Call in information will be given upon registration.
  • Indigenous Peer Support Group 
    • For blind or partially blind Indigenous individuals who are wanting to connect with others who are experiencing similar circumstances in a safe and comfortable setting.  Participants will have the opportunity to help choose various discussion topics as well as share ideas, suggestions, stories, worries,etc.  Guest speakers. 
    • Meets on the first and third Thursday of every month, 1:30 – 2:30 pm CST.  Call information will be given upon registration.
  • Swift Current Seniors Peer Support Group
    • For seniors who are experiencing vision loss.  Topics are relevant and chosen by the group. Guest speakers are brought in to discuss things like nutrition, working with your pharmacist, personal safety, fraud and may others. 
    • Meets on the second Tuesday of every month, 1:30 – 2:30 pm CST at the Lions Club in Swift Current.  
  • Guide Dog Handlers Chat Group
    • For guide dog handlers from across Canada.  Group shares the joys and challenges of being guide dog handlers as well as tips to keep guide dogs happy and engaged. 
    • Held biweekly on Fridays, 1:00 – 2:00 pm EST.  Call in information will be given upon registration.
  • Saskatchewan North Peer Support Group
    • For blind or partially blind Indigenous individuals who are wanting to connect with others who are experiencing similar circumstances in a safe and comfortable setting.  Participants will have the opportunity to help choose various discussion topics as well as have the option to share ideas, suggestions, stories, worries, etc.  Guest speakers. 
    • Meets on the first and third Thursday of every month, 1:30 – 2:30 pm CST.  Call in information will be given upon registration.
  • Wednesday Social Hour
    • For those who are affected by vision loss.  Opportunity to make new friends and reconnect with old ones. Each week group discusses a different topic and takes time to socialize. 
    • Held on Wednesdays, 1:00 – 2:00 pm Atlantic Time.  Call in information will be given upon registration.
  • Western Canada Social Meet-Up Teleconference
    • Get to know each other, share some good news stories and discuss practical tips for staying healthy and connected. 
    • Held Thursday mornings, 10:00 – 11:00 am MST.  Call in information will be given upon registration.

People can attend in-person or join in by phone or online. Check website for a listing of locations, dates and times.
