Service Description
Assists Saskatchewan’s Métis looking to improve their education and employment outcomes. Programs are based on labour market needs and trends, and clients may receive financial support through help with tuition, living allowances, and employer subsidies where eligible. Programs include:
- Finances projects contributing to skills development and training for Aboriginal workers leading to long-term, meaningful employment.
- Offers a wide range of career counselling services for individuals.
- Wage Subsidy: designed to help Métis individuals enter or return to the workforce by participating in a practical work experience. The employer will prepare the trainees for the labour market by using and enhancing their skills.
- Student Subsidy: designed to create employment opportunities for secondary and post-secondary students by offering a wage subsidy for employers hiring students during the year, usually over the summer months.
- Apprenticeship Subsidy: designed to assist Aboriginal individuals secure apprenticeship positions with employers to help them develop marketable skills and experience, with a plan leading to journeyperson status.
- Assists Métis clients who have an offer of employment but require monetary assistance to start their job (such as equipment or a bus ticket).
Individual Sponsorship Program
- Directly sponsors individuals to attend training programs, with the goal of helping Métis clients prepare for thew workforce, and obtain and maintain long-term, quality employment.
- Résumé and interview skill training / workshops
- Internet and fax machine access to submit applications
- Essential skills training
- provides unique supports to Métis entrepreneurs who are looking to create, maintain or expand a business.

Eligibility
- Be a Métis person
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age or meet minimum requirements of chosen training (clients 15-17 years of age may be considered for youth-at-risk programming)
- Have barriers to employment that prevent you from securing long-term employment
- Be unemployed or underemployed and actively seeking employment
- For the Individual Sponsorship Program, have a letter of offer for guaranteed employment from an employer.
