Service Description

Protects the health of individuals and communities through health promotion and enforcement of provincial Acts and regulations and/or municipal regulations.

Programs and services protect public health and safety by ensuring: safe food; safe water; safe public swimming pools and recreational water; safe housing; and safe residential indoor air quality.

Public health inspectors conduct routine compliance inspections and are involved in:

  • Communicable Disease Surveillance, Investigation, and Management
  • Personal service facilities
  • Plumbing and Sewage System Permits & Inspections
  • Tobacco control
  • Public Education and Health Promotion
  • Enforcement of Environmental and Public Health Legislation
  • Health Hazard Complaint Investigations
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response
  • Animal bites follow-up (Public Health Nursing).
