Child Care

A licensed child care facility that provides care and supervision for up to 50 children between the ages of 18 months and five years. Spaces are strictly reserved for Saskatchewan Polytechnic students and staff. Child Care Subsidy accepted. 

Parents/guardians have the opportunity to volunteer and fundraise.

Philosophy

• Believes that play is the most crucial learning tool children have and focus on providing children the time and freedom they require to learn and grow.
• Part of the educators role is to support the children while they play and discover new ideas and concepts and provide experiences that help them find the answers to the questions they have.
• Focuses on the healthy development of the whole child – social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual development.
• Children are viewed as capable and competent learners and are encouraged to explore the world around them.
• Building strong positive relationships with the children, families, team mates and community is a fundamental piece of the program. 

Programs and Activities

• All experiences offered are hands on, child lead and based on the interests of the children.
• Experiences are holistic in nature and strive to challenge and build skills in all developmental areas for the children.
• The environment is designed to foster creativity, curiosity, exploration, social interactions and problem solving.
• Children and educators collaborate on planning projects and experiences that can help children find the answers to their questions on the topic.
• Experiences are open ended allowing children with a variety of developmental and skill level to participate.

Nutrition

• Believe that if a child’s basic needs (food, shelter, safety) are met they are free to learn and grow in a much deeper way; therefore good nutrition is a critical piece of the program. 
• Their chef makes breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks each day. 
• The majority of meals and snacks are made from scratch and ensure that the children are exposed to a wide variety of food.
• They ensure that those who have special diet restrictions are provided a meal that meets those requirements.
