Service Description

A licensed child care facility that provide care and supervision for up to 25 children between the ages of 18 months and kindergarten. Child Care Subsidy accepted.

Philosophy

  • Children are capable and competent learners, and if treated with respect will grow to treat others with respect – strive to teach this to the children.
  • Believe developing social, emotional, problem solving, and independence are equally important, along with self worth, understanding of personal space, empathy, and language.
  • Teach developmentally appropriate education in math, science, gross and fine motor, language, skills.

Programs and Activities

  • Play-based program.
  • We encourage the freedom of choice, freedom to play with and where they want, freedom to eat what they want during lunch and snack times, freedom to participate in planned activities or not.
  • Follow a schedule – with set times to eat and nap for children who nap.
  • Adaptations are made to meet the needs of individual children. 
  • Daily schedule/program allows the interests of children to determine the learning content. 
  • Follow a schedule which incorporates indoor/outdoor play, structured/free choice activities, child led/teacher led activities. 
  • Program includes cultural focus or activities.

Nutrition

  • Teaching and providing the children with appropriate nutrition is important because it fosters a healthy development from a young age. 
  • Teach the children about why each food group is healthy, why we need to try new foods, and how listening to our body while we are eating, gives us appropriate nutritional development. 
  • Provide morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack.
  • Make whatever arrangements necessary for special diets – work with parents to come up with the best possible solution for varying nutritional needs.

Children between the ages of 18 months - kindergarten.
