Service Description
A supportive, safe, and sober place to call home for those in addictions recovery. There is no maximum length of stay for residents as long as sobriety is maintained, membership dues are paid, and responsibilities are shared within the home. Children under the age of 18 are able to visit their parents on occasion.
Eligibility
Location is for adult females.
General Oxford House Criteria includes:
Homeless or at-risk of being homeless;
Not using and committed to remaining sober; off all substances (drugs, prescription narcotics and alcohol)
Gambling is not permitted while a person is a member of OHS
Must have completed addictions treatment, be currently involved in outpatient day programming, or have an admissions date for inpatient treatment.
Individuals currently taking Methadone are not eligible;
Suboxone is permitted with conditions (contact staff prior to application);
Willing and able to work, go to school, or attend a recognized program;
Should be able to perform life skills independently and/or is willing to learn and be guided through life skills development
Recently incarcerated individuals are eligible to apply only through recommendation from a Substance Abuse Program;
Persons with sexually related convictions within the last 15 years, or homicide charges are ineligible for OHS membership.
Application Process
Referral/recommendation required from a treatment center representative, a member of the medical/wellness field (doctor, counsellor, support worker etc.) or probation officer.
