Service Description
Provided to youth whose needs can best be met through a long term therapeutic group care placement. The duration of stay is typically for a period of 1 – 3 years but may be longer for youth with cognitive and mental health challenges that will be transitioned to adult group care programs.
Eligibility
Youth 7 - 16 years of age. Youth are placed into specific programs according to their ages and needs.
Youth 10 - 16 years of age who are experiencing considerable difficulty functioning in their family, foster family, school or community due to social, emotional, psychological and behavior problems.
Youth younger than 10 and older than 16 may be considered for admission under exceptional circumstances when it is determined that they require the service and that their needs can be met within the program.
Youth who require a high level of support, structure and supervision to assist them in stabilizing their emotions and behaviors.
Application Process
Referrals from Social Services & Child & Family Services. Once the referral information has been reviewed and it has been determined that the youth is an appropriate candidate for the program an admission date will be arranged with the referring agency. Pre-admission visits for the child and family will be facilitated by the program whenever possible to help prepare the child and family for the placement.
