Service Description

Intended to help lower dental costs for eligible families earning less than $90,000 per year. Parents/guardians may be eligible if they pay for dental care for a child under 12 years old who does not have access to a private dental plan. Payments depend on family net income and are tax-free. Parents/guardians can apply for a maximum of two payments per child. 

Eligibility

Applications are open until June 30, 2024 for dental care received between July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024. Parent/Guardians must meet all the following for each child applied for: - Child born on or after July 2, 2011 (under 12 years old as of July 1, 2023) - Child receives dental care services in Canada between July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024 - Child does not have access to a private dental insurance plan - Child's dental costs are not fully covered by another dental program provided by any level of government - Parent/Guardian is the only parent or caregiver receiving the Canada Child Benefit for child as of July 1, 2023 OR parent/guardian has shared custody of child and receives half the Canada Child Benefit for child as of July 1, 2023 - Parent/Guardian filed 2022 taxes - Spouse or common-law partner filed their 2022 taxes OR parent/guardian does not have a spouse or common-law partner as of July 1, 2023 - adjusted family net income is less than $90,000 in 2022 - No one has applied for the additional payment for your child's dental costs for the first benefit period Parents/guardians may meet criteria for an additional payment if they only applied for one of the benefit periods and child's dental costs were more than $650 for the period.

Application Process

Applications can be completed via the phone or online through the CRA My Account.

Direct deposit takes up to 5 business days. Mailed cheques arrive in approximately 10 business days.

- Child's dental care provider's name, address, telephone number
- Child's dental appointment date
- Employer's name, address, and telephone number (if applicable)
- Spouse or common-law partner's employer's name, address, and telephone number (if applicable)
