Service Description
Provides direct financial support up to $200 to people with disabilities who are between 18 and 64 years old.
- Individuals approved for payments will begin receiving them the month after their application is received and approved. For applications approved in July 2025 or later, the applicant may be eligible for retroactive payments for earlier months. No payments will be issued for months prior to June 2025.
Eligibility
Applicants and their spouse or common-law partner (if applicable) must have filed previous year's federal income tax returns and must:
● be 18-64 years
● have been approved for the disability tax credit
● be Canadian residents for income tax filing purposes
● be one of the following:
○ a permanent resident
○ an individual registered or entitled to be registered under the Indian Act
○ a protected person
○ a temporary resident who has lived in Canada throughout the previous 18 months
Incarcerated persons: individuals serving a sentence of two years or more in a federal penitentiary are not eligible for the benefit, except during the first and last month of their incarceration.
Application Process
Choose one of the six options:
• complete a printed application and either:
○ mail it to the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) Processing Centre:

• fill out an online application form
• call the Canada Disability Benefit call centre: 1-833-486-3007
• use a teletypewriter (TTY): 1-833-467-2700
• use a sign language interpreter to call the dedicated video relay service (VRS) line. To use the service, register at srvcanadavrs.ca
• visit a Service Canada Centre
Documents Required
Individuals applying by mail need to submit a complete printable Canada Disability Benefit application form or the Canada Disability Benefit Legal representative application form.
To complete the application form, individuals must provide:
● Social Insurance Number (SIN)
● Mailing address
● Proof of legal status in Canada
● Income information from their notice of assessment
● Direct deposit details
