Service Description
Provides support and guidance to assist young parents to achieve their own goals for growth and to provide a nurturing environment for the development of their children.
Designed to offer parents between the ages of 13 and 24 years the opportunity to learn the skills necessary for independent living and parenting.
Main objectives of the program are to:
- Promote normal development in babies
- Increase the knowledge and understanding of parenting skills of young mothers and fathers
- Assist young parents in stabilizing and improving their own situations, with a view to eventual self-sufficiency.
Includes an evening support and information group, offered weekly from September to June.
- Child care is available while the parents attend the program.
- Besides gaining valuable information every week, participants attending the group also receive the opportunity to interact with other young parents and share their experiences with one another.
Transportation assistance available upon request.
