Philosophy

  • Offer an inclusive program that strives to accommodate children of all abilities as they see each child as an individual, with their own uniqueness acknowledged and appreciated.
  • Provide a non-competitive environment where children can feel secure in trying new activities and developing skills to their full potential.
  • See children and their families as integral members of Little Castle, to learn from one another and form partnerships with families by encouraging them to be part of their child’s learning experience.
  • Goal is to provide children with a wide range of opportunities to explore their world in a safe, caring and encouraging environment.
  • Educators stay in pace with professional development, networking and awareness in Early Learning and Child Care Development.

Programs and Activities

  • Follow a program based on “Play and Exploration” set forth by the Government of Saskatchewan, a program that stresses the value of play-based activities and holistic experiences.
  • Program allows children the freedom to choose activities that make them feel capable and secure.
  • Pursue a program that is geared toward helping children develop habits of observation, questioning and listening.
  • Program changes to keep pace with and meet each and every child’s emotional, social, intellectual, creative and physical needs as the child moves through the various ages and stages of development.
  • Activities are based on children’s interests and what is currently important in their lives.

Nutrition

  • Healthy food that meets young children’s growth and developmental needs is of utmost importance to their lifelong health and wellbeing; therefore they follow the provincial food guide recommendations for young children.
  • Menus are based on providing healthy nutrition that is vital for young children’s physical and mental development to help them grow and develop.
  • Educators understand the importance of being good role models and use mealtimes to teach sharing and socializing skills.
  • Serve breakfast, lunch and snack, that include healthy and nutritional foods from all food groups.
  • Take into account special dietary needs for certain children and serve meals and snacks that respect traditions and customs of every child attending the facility.
