Service Description
Provides three types of criminal matters legal advice for people who cannot afford to pay for legal services. Includes:
- Brydes Line – Advice over the phone to anyone being held by police. No cost. Available to everyone.
- Duty Counsel Service – A lawyer will help at the bail hearing. This service is only for people who are on remand. No cost. Available to everyone.
- Full Representation – A lawyer will help people with their case. Service is only available to low-income people who are facing jail time.
NOTE: All youth are eligible for legal aid, regardless of the seriousness of their charges or their finances.
Eligibility
Brydes Line and Duty Counsel Service: Anyone is eligible
Full Representation
- Youth aged 12 to 17
- Individuals receiving social assistance
- Individuals band assistance
- Individuals working and who have a low income.

There are three ways to apply for legal aid.
1. Call 1-800-667-3764.
2. Send a message through the website contact page.
3. Call one of the offices directly to apply by phone or make an appointment to apply in-person.
