Philosophy

  • A living environment where the children thrive and grow while having the necessary support to make the best of their potential.
  • An environment that stimulates the emotional, social, physical, cognitive, and language dimensions at the same time.
  • To offer a Francophone educational program with activities that promote the child’s overall development and adjustment to collective life; and to promote Francophone culture by offering the child an enrichment of the French language.
  • Encourage the commitment and involvement of parents in the education of their children.

Programs and Activities

  • Designed to facilitate learning through play, as well as provide children with an environment where they can live, play, and learn in French as a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
  • Children benefit from a French-speaking unilingual environment, in order to promote the French-Canadian language and culture.
  • General guidelines are based on certain principles of the “Play and Explore” program because they focus on active learning – the educators’ interventions are primarily aimed at enabling children to flourish through play.
  • Educators offer children the opportunity to participate in planned activities for their age group or to engage in workshop activities.
  • Certain periods of the day are free, giving children the opportunity to choose the activity they wish to participate in – during these moments, the activities offered are organized in workshops and each child can opt for the one of their choice.
  • During the day, activities organized around a theme are led by the educator, alternating with periods of free play.
  • Special activities will be organized throughout the year, such as the visit of special guests (firefighters, policemen, etc.) and the celebration of various holidays (Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc.).
  • Weather permitting, each child plays outdoors daily at least twice a day.

Nutrition

  • The Centre provides two snacks and a dinner.
  • A balanced menu has been approved by Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Education, ELCC branch, to ensure that all food groups are respected and included in the child’s daily diet.
  • May welcome some children with severe peanut allergies – they ask parents not to give their children foods containing nuts or peanuts because of frequent allergies to these foods.
  • For a special diet they talk with parents and work together in order to find a solution.
