Settlement Services for Newcomers

Offers a number of programs to help newcomers adapt to their new environment and help them navigate all the services in their new community. Information about each program is available on the website. Programs include:

• Families in Transition (FIT)
  • ​FREE program to support clients to become self-sufficient and independent in knowing how to resolve their problems and make healthy choices for themselves and their families.
• Kids First
  • ​Works with families and their children from pregnancy through to three years old. Focuses on child development, parent-child relationships, and parenting skills.
• Orientation Services for Newcomers (OSN)
  • ​Program supports newcomers to meet their settlement needs, gain knowledge of life in Canada, understand how to access programs, and adapt/integrate into the community.
• Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP)
  • ​Helps newly arrived government-assisted refugees resettle in Regina. Settlement workers provide support and essential services for the immediate needs of refugees.
• Settlement Support Workers in School (SWISS)
  • ​Is a free, school-based, outreach program. It connects newly arrived families to services and community resources to promote settlement and encourage student achievement in schools. SSWIS workers help build positive and open communication between family, school and community.
• Welcoming Community for Newcomers (WCN)
  • Free program that helps newcomer individuals or familites become familiar with their community and establish supportive social networks.  
  • Program aims to help newcomers become thriving members of their community, meet new people in Regina, and feel welcome and at home in Regina.
• Translation and Interpretation Program (TIP)
  • Works with volunteer interpreters to provide interpretation services to newcomers with limited English proficiency.
• Temporary Foreign Worker program (TFW)
  • ​Designed to support Temporary Foreign Workers affected by COVID-19. Aimed at meeting the unique needs, with a particular focus on those employed in the agricultural sector and its related industries.
• Volunteer Program
  • ​Program to help individuals meet new people and participate in the community.
