Service Description

Provides a 15-week-full-time work readiness program focused in enhancing participants’ skills and ability to maintain employment in entry level positions in Saskatchewan labour market:

  • 9 weeks of work-life skills readiness training
  • 6 weeks of one-on-one job coaching
  • Computer skills
  • Resume / Cover letter writing / preparing for a job interview / help completing job applications
  • Setting career goals
  • Job search strategies
  • Subsidized vocational training (WHMIS, First Aid and CPR, Food Safety L1, Personal Care Worker, Service Best)
  • Ongoing job development support following completion of the program.

Childminding is provided.

Eligibility

Newcomer men and women ages 18+ who:
- are Saskatchewan residents for no more than 5 years;
- eligible to work in Canada (Permanent Residents, Work Permit or Citizen);
- English skills: Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) levels 3, 4, or 5. Participants are expected to attend the entire length of the program.

Application Process

- Register at the IWS main office;
- Interested participants must attend an interview to determine their eligibility and if this program will meet their career goals.

Documents Required

Proof of immigration status and a copy of your CLB language assessment is required.
