Child Care

A Christian based licensed child care home that provides care and supervision for up to eight children between the ages of 11 months and 12 years. Operated in the provider’s private residence. Child Care Subsidy accepted.

Philosophy

• Believes that children need care in a safe and nurturing environment.
• Atmosphere in the home is warm and friendly.
• Makes sure children are well supervised and help them learn to get along with others.
• Believes every child should receive quality care and respect.  
• Gives children as much independence and choice as they can handle.
• Offers a mix of activities so children can develop in every way.
• Hopes your child feels at home here and hopes that as parents you are comfortable with the care your child receives.
• Believes good communication is key to keeping a good relationship – you are always welcome to stop in for a moment and chat when you drop off or pick up your child. 

Programs and Activities

• Child’s choice – lie down, quiet free play, colouring, reading. 
• Group activity – arts and crafts, games, music, dramatic play, cooking.
• Outdoor play – backyard, park, going for a walk. (depending on the weather)
• Nap time for those who need it – rest and quiet play for non-nappers.
• Small group activities – arts and crafts, table games.
• Free play – indoor or out.
• Clean up.
• Quiet activities (sometimes television) while preparing for home time.
• For any infants under one year, feeding and sleep times are determined by the babies needs – After that, will work with parents to gradually develop regular routines.
• Will go to the park or out for walks.
• Are a family who celebrates Christmas and Easter – has some religious story books and music available and they say grace before meals.

Nutrition

• Meals and snacks are planned using the Canadian Food Guide.
• Breakfast is provided before 8:30 am. 
• The menu of the day will be written on the white board so parents can see every day what their children will be eating.
• If children have allergies, they will try to accommodate substitutes – if this does not work out, parents will be asked to send food as appropriate.  
• Occasionally serves nuts and peanut products in the home.
• Parents of infants are asked to supply all formula, bottles and baby foods – will not provide regular milk or table food to infants under six months.
