Service Description
Provides support to residents of the Athabasca Basin who chose to further their post secondary education in health related careers. Program is open to all full-time students who reside in the Athabasca Basin and are enrolled in a health related field of study. Examples of programs that would be considered for this bursary are:
- Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Intermediate Care Paramedic (ICP)
- Combined Lab/X-Ray Technician (CLXT)
- Special Care Aides (SCA)
- Dental Therapist
- Early Childhood Educators
- Social Work.
The above is only an example of some of the courses available; other health related careers will be considered. Each year there will be 10 bursaries of $5000 each awarded throughout the Athabasca Basin. Courses must be one year in length and the bursary will be paid on an annual basis for a maximum of two years. Courses lasting less than one year will be eligible for a $2500 bursary. To be eligible for consideration, applications must be received by the Athabasca Health Authority no later than June 15 of each year.
