Service Description
Provides flexibly scheduled and routed transportation services using low-capacity vehicles such as vans for community residents who do not have private transportation and are unable to use the fixed-route public transportation system.
Eligibility
Handibus is for members of the community of Big River who otherwise do not qualify for public transportation and who are unable to drive themselves due to physical inability, age, restraints, or health obstacles.
Application Process
Book through the Big River Health Centre 306-469-2333.
Those who wish to drive their family members in the Handibus must first present their driver's licence to the local SGI office where the Handibus insurance is held. They must also take instructions from the Big River Health Centre/Lakewood Lodge on how to drive the van before using it.
Fees
$5 round trip in town and $.50/kilometer for out-of-town trips.
