Child Care

A licensed child care home that provides care and supervision for up to 12 children between the ages of one year and 12 years. Operated in the provider’s private residence. Child care provider is fluent in Russian and Ukrainian languages. Child Care Subsidy accepted.

Philosophy

• Believes children are capable, curious, competent and creative. 
• Main goal is to provide for the physical, social, and emotional needs of each child, treating them respectfully and empowering them with self-confidence.
• Believes that they need to provide children with skills necessary to feel comfortable when facing the first challenges of their lives, such as learning school-knowledgeable information like the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colours, colouring, and cutting skills, as well as social skills such as becoming responsible for themselves and their behaviour and choices, sharing, using manners, taking turns, following routine, and respecting one another.
• Daycare is very limited for the screen time.

Programs and Activities

• Will plan and implement activities that enhance all aspects of development: social, physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional.
• Vast arrays of toys are provided for your child to play with.
• All toddlers and preschoolers will have an afternoon nap after lunch.
• All school age children  will rest for 30 minutes and then are provided with quiet activities for them while they remain on their mats, thus still providing the rest they need – they will not be forced to sleep.
• Outdoor play is an important part of the daycare routine and program. All children in the daycare will spend a minimum of 30 minutes outdoors each day.  
• Children will not be taken outside when the temperature is below -18 degrees Celsius (with or without the wind chill) – during colder temperatures, children are only outdoors for short periods of time provided that they have the appropriate clothing required for the weather.
• Children will not be taken outside its too windy, too rainy and generally uncomfortable.
• Children will not be taken outside at temperatures of +30 degrees Celsius or above or a UV reading of very high (greater than 8) – during these warm temperatures, children are only outside for short periods of time provided that they have a hat, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear.

Nutrition

• Provides nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day.
• Meals are planned and prepared to meet the nutritional needs of the children as per the Canada Food Guide and regulations set out by the Early Learning and Child Care Program of the Ministry of Education.
• Children who require a special diet for any reason are required to bring their own meals that may be heated for them at meal time.
• Meal time for infants may vary depending on each child’s individual needs – parents need to make sure that their child has an adequate supply of special milk or formula, pureed baby food, or baby cereal.
• Weekly and daily menus are posted in the parent area at the daycare entrance.
• Need to be made aware of any changes that you are making in your child’s diet (different textures, foods etc.) so they can cooperate and follow through with your home routine.
