Art and Play-Based Therapy

Provided by: Tracy Dudar Creative Expressions Art Therapy

Service Description

A private practice offering Art Therapy and Theraplay to children, youth, and families.

  • Art Therapy – combines visual art and psychotherapy by integrating the use of art materials into therapy sessions for assessment and treatment. Art-based therapy interventions are tailored to each client’s specific needs for the purpose of self-expression, encouraging communication and/or resolving personal conflicts.
  • Play Therapy – is typically used with children ages 2 – 12. Through play, children communicate thoughts and feelings using symbols and metaphors to make sense of past experiences, work through current circumstances, and try out solutions for the future.
  • Theraplay – is a form of Play Therapy that is relationship focused. Both parent and child are involved in sessions and together participate in play-based activities for the purpose of enhancing attachment, regulating emotions, building trust, improving self-esteem and reducing a child’s challenging behaviours.

Provides counselling services to children, youth and families with diverse social, emotional, mental health and behavioral issues. Specializes in the areas of parent-child attachment, trauma, self-esteem, anxiety and loss.

Professional Membership with the Canadian Art Therapy Association and Clinician Membership with The Theraplay.
