A free program that helps Immigrant Women learn sewing skills for their personal and professional empowerment.

Helps participants:

  • Learn basic sewing skills
  • Learn about culture by interacting with youth
  • Improve English conversation skills
  • Make new friends
  • Gain valuable skills that can be used in future for employment
  • Learn about Aboriginal Beading.

Topics Covered: 

  • Learn parts of electric sewing machine and its various parts
  • Learn two basic embroidery stitches
  • Learn to cut and sew a top, a pair of slacks and a dress
  • Learn to cut and sew a pillowcase
  • Learn to cut a sew a Christmas Stocking 
  • Learn to cut, sew and stuff a pillow and apply stitchery or bead work
  •
