Philosophy
- Strives to meet the developmental and individual needs of each child while taking into consideration their interests and how each child learns through daily experiences .
- Believe that being sensitive of each child’s development and interests leads the way to holistic programming, environments, and experiences.
- Believe children progress through various stages of development based on their age, experiences, and how they interact in the environments around them.
- Believe it is important that children are provided with environments, experiences, and opportunities that will enhance holistic learning as the Early Childhood Educators observe and reflect throughout the day.
- Centre works in partnership with parents/guardians through daily conversations, emails, and information boards.
Programs and Activities
- Centre balances play-based programming with adult led activities and experiences. For example, Early Childhood Educators may have an invitation based on the children’s interest of insects.
- Children are free to explore and create in any area of their assigned groups.
- Centre takes into consideration the ages and developmental levels of each child, providing additional support or adaptations to the activities and environments in each group.
- Programming, environments, invitations, and experiences take into consideration the interests and developmental levels of the children.
- Children go outside on a daily basis. (taking into consideration weather conditions)
- Centre provides a variety of activities that are age appropriate and enhances exploration.
Nutrition
- Provides highly nutritious snacks and meals on a daily basis taking into consideration all the requirements and recommendations of the Canada Food Guide and the Ministry of Education – Early Years Branch.
- Believe nutrition plays a crucial role in the healthy development and well being of all children.
- Provide two snacks – each one requires them to serve a fruit or vegetable and one other food group.
- Provide a lunch that includes all four food groups and is sensitive to the new Canada Food Guide by adding more plant based foods.
- Centre accommodates special diets to the best of their ability. For example, a child on a vegan diet will be served a homemade veggie burger on a day where beef burgers are served.
