Child Care and Preschool

A licensed child care facility that provides care and supervision for up to 15 children between the ages of six weeks and 12 years. Child Care Subsidy accepted.

Philosophy 

• Goal is to provide an environment that empowers children to be curious, to experiment and to think for themselves.
• The children have a warm and welcoming environment where they are supported to explore and understand the world around them. 
• It is important as they learn to develop a healthy self esteem so they may grow to be contributing adults in society.

Programs and Activities

• Program is based on the Play and Exploration guide as outlined through the Ministry of Education.
• Independence is supported through following the child’s lead – teacher-based developmental and age appropriate experiences are derived from these interests. 
• Self help skills are built into the daily program.
• Daily routine is predictable in order to provide a sense of security as the children learn to assume what comes next.
• Outdoor play is scheduled in the morning and afternoon unless inclement weather prevails.
• Grasslands National Park, ranching, and farming are in their midst so many experiences revolve around the lives of the families of the children they serve.

Nutrition

• Snacks and meals are offered every two and a half to three hours based on Canada’s food guide.
• Parents of infants must supply their own food.
• Special diets may be accomodated.
